EVO-ONE or EVO-ALL for my application

+1 vote
2014 Mazda 6, PTS, automatic

I'm looking at adding remote start to my vehicle. Your "solution finder" lists two possible solutions:

1. ("recommended") EVO-MAZT1. I think (?) this is EVO-ALL plus T-HARNESS.

2. EVO-ONE, separate T-HARNESS available.

I plan to use a RF-Kit to extend remote range. Will I be able to completely replace my existing OEM Mazda remote (lock/unlock/trunk/panic) with the RF-Kit remote, assuming it has buttons for those functions? Or will I lose some functionality if I do that. And in particular, is the answer the same for options #1 and #2 above.

For example, I saw another post where someone mentioned you wouldn't get trunk control with EVO-ALL, and that you would need EVO-ONE to do that. But I didn't understand why, and I don't see this limitatation mentioned on the product pages.

Thanks!

Your vehicle is equipped with a smart key, the car likes to see the key in the car when you drive around with it. On top of that, there is no take over on these vehicles. Meaning, once remote started, when you then get in the vehicle, the car would shut off on door open. You would then need to restart it. (like how the OEM starter works)

EVO-MAZT1 is a great solution for a 3x lock start. (automatic vehicles only!)

If using an RF-KIT and absolutely need trunk release, EVO-ONE with THAR-MAZ1 harness would do the trick.

Trunk release is not supported through CAN-Bus. The EVO-ONE has a dedicated trunk release output unlike the EVO-ALL which does not (for now).

So the fact that I have a "smart-key" means that the RF-Kit remote will not be able to replace my OEM remote, correct? (since the OEM remote will always be needed inside vehicle to restart the vehicle after entering).

If that is the case, then the lack of trunk control on the RF-Kit remote is not a big deal, since I have to keep the OEM remote with me anyway.

Do I have that right?
